Mitzie "Pretty Girl" Payne
April 1, 2004 to January 31, 2023
On the evening of Tuesday, January 31, 2023, our beloved fur baby, Mitzie, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving parents and her litter-mate brother. Days after Mitzie and her brother were found abandoned as tiny kittens they hit the jackpot of love when they were re-homed to their daddy. Mitzie met her mommy shortly after and resided with her loving parents and brother for nearly 19 years. In all of the years of her life, Mitzie's only night away from her family home was the evening of her death at the crematory. Her remains are with her family and her spirit will continue to be ever-present in her family's home.
As a rescue, Mitzie found a loving home and protective parents. From the time she was a little kitten, she was a 'clingy' calico who had an attachment to her parents seen in very few calico cats. Weaned too soon from her biological mom, she suckled her parents' fingers throughout her life and needed constant attention which they lovingly provided in abundance. Throughout her life, she was a cuddler who loved to lay on her daddy's legs and on her mommy's lap and slept with her parents each night. Though shy and apprehensive of strangers, she often eagerly lay across the table trying to get in on a game of yahtzee, scrabble or bananagrams just to be close to her parents so she could get some petting and love. Most notably, Mitzie loved walking on keyboards while her parents typed, playing with her daddy's socks each morning as he dressed for work, bringing toy mice 'gifts' to her parents' bedside under the cover of darkness each night, lying on any and every piece of paper she could find, and nibbling on potato chips.
Mitzie was just a truly good and loving cat. She grew to believe her name was "Pretty Girl" because her parents told her she was a "pretty girl" so often while kissing her forehead thousands of times. Mitzie loved head kisses and her irreplaceable joyful purr will be forever missed. Though Mitzie hit the jackpot of love, it was truly her parents who hit the jackpot by having the privilege to care for and love sweet Mitzie girl for almost 19 years.
Mitzie leaves behind her daddy, Kerry Payne, her mommy, Kelly (Bruley) Payne, and her life-long companion and brother, Max.
Mitzie's family is forever grateful to Dr. Heath (and staff) of Viewmont Animal Hospital who cared for Mitzie during her final hours, to Dr. Nikki of Henry River Mobile Veterinary Services for helping Mitzie's family cope during Mitzie's final moments of life, and to Caring Cremations for services provided to Mitzie's family after her death. We will miss her so very much and will always remember our sweet precious baby girl. Mitzie's wings were ready but we were not. Psalms 34:18
