Ava Renfroe

December 31, 1969 — July 5, 2023

Our sweet Ava passed away peacefully on July 5, 2023 surrounded by her Mom and Dad at the Startown Veterinary Hospital in North Carolina. She is survived by her mom, dad, her “brother” Gunner, Rachel, Seth, Alex, Yoshi, Emmi and Gavin. Ava brought lots of love and joy to them all and to many others.

Miss Ava was gifted to us by our daughter, Rachel. Ava filled our lives with so much love and became the “Fun Coach” of the family. She will be missed by many, as everyone that met Ava, loved Ava.

Ava’s favorite activities were getting petted, especially behind the ears and on her belly, playing with her many stuffed animals (her babies), greeting everyone she saw, and swimming. The pool was Ava’s playground and she loved to run and jump into the pool to catch a ball. If she didn’t catch it in the air, she’d dive under to retrieve it and then swim to the stairs (or sometimes the ladder), shake, and be ready for you to throw it again. Birthdays and Christmas were some of her favorite days as she loved to help everyone open their presents. She liked to help with everything we did and it never occurred to her that she might be in the way. She never met a stranger. She thought everyone that came to our house was coming to see her. She especially loved our recent renovation because there were so many people coming to see her. Ava loved taking care of others. She would be right there with anyone who was sick to take care of them. She took guard at the door of the sleeping grandchildren and other guests.

We got a motorhome so that we could take her on vacations and work trips and she took to camping like she was born to do it. She loved meeting all the other campers and their dogs.

We were so honored to have been given the 14 years with Ava. We wish it could have been more. She lived life to the fullest and loved and comforted many.

We would like to thank the Startown Veterinary Hospital for showing Ava love and compassion and the Jenkins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, especially Faustena, for helping us to get through this difficult time in our lives, and thank all those that were praying for us.

Ava, we love you and will miss you sweet girl! We look forward to you greeting us one day when we join you in heaven.
